Lexia in Buenos Aires
city888.jpgDespite being citizens in the main port of a former Spanish colony, the porteños (as the residents of Buenos Aires call themselves) have more Italian and German names than Spanish, and their buildings and cultural traditions reflect a history of steady European immigration.

As the home of the national government, Buenos Aires was at the center of Argentina's political and economic instability during the 1970s, but the city flourished after the reestablishment of democracy in 1983.

Today, Buenos Aires is a fast-paced cultural metropolis of over three million people, alive with all-night tango dances and political marches, bookstores and film festivals, opera and soccer, where Lexia students have the chance to participate in the stimulating complexity of Buenos Aires's Spanish, European, and Latin American cultures.
