Lexia in London
lexialondon06.jpgIn its role as the bureaucratic center of a world empire, London sent its citizens across the globe; today, in the post-empire era, the globe has come to London. Among its population of over seven million people, there are 300 languages spoken; immigrants from former British colonies like India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Malaysia have flooded the city's neighborhoods and created a complex multi-cultural society of old economic classes and new ethnic identities.

And while London is known best for its stately architecture and stoic reserve, the city is nevertheless a hot spot for cutting-edge architecture, design, art, theater, and music, with more museums, galleries, fashion houses, restaurants, hotels, concert halls, and pubs than any city in Europe.

While exploring daily life in London's diverse boroughs, Lexia students will have the opportunity to understand first-hand the challenges of revitalization in a city entering its twenty-first century.
