Buenos Aires

Birthplace of the Tango and home to European-style Colonial architecture, Buenos Aires is a brilliant mix of the old world and the new. It is full of fashion designers, theaters and luxury shopping, yet many porteños live in conditions typical to a developing nation. The competing interests of tourists, labor unions, feminists, and the military come together in this capital city.

Lexia students will have the chance to dig beneath the veneer of Buenos Aires and see more than just a city of good people, good parties, good shopping, and good food. They will find a long history filled with heated politics, diverse communities and a working class that struggles for representation, following the inspiration of former First Lady Eva Perón.
