One of the most important changes a person can make is to change their way of looking at the world. We can change studies, jobs, neighborhood, even countries and continents, and still remain much as we always were. But really engaging another culture and truly seeing through the eyes of its members can alter everything-our priorities, our values, our judgments, and our pursuits. Whether you work with an entrepreneur in Eastern Europe or debate the politics of art in Venice; whether you share a cafe table with a chemist in Buenos Aires or investigate Christo's wrapping of the Reichstag in Berlin, Lexia's goal is to enable you to truly see in new ways, to think in a new language, to draw on deep knowledge of other cultures and value systems. We believe such goals are important for living fully in today's multicultural world. Take the first step by carefully reviewing the Lexia program options. We are particularly proud of our semester and academic year programs, which combine language and cultural courses with independent Capstone Projects, enabling you to gain the utmost from your time abroad. Delving into the local culture through independent projects brings you new opportunities outside of the classroom that you cannot replicate at home. Lexia alumni have pushed their imaginations to create extraordinary academic and cultural experiences through their semester Capstone Projects. One student explored the changing role of photojournalism in Krakow. Another pursued her interests in the privatization of the clothing industry in Budapest. One alumnus focused on the style of hotel management in Buenos Aires. Still another went out to the gypsy community in Prague to discuss human rights issues. The possibilities are endless. Lexia programs accommodate almost every academic major, offering you the freedom to explore a wide range of interests while providing you with core communication and research skills that will allow you to feel confident in that exploration. Learning about different ways of approaching life and its challenges can be truly life changing. Whether your career becomes international or not, your experience will give you a competitive edge that you will never lose. In the process, you will have made friends in a different part of the world, creating new connections across borders, shaping new communities of learning and goodwill. The staff of Lexia understands these benefits first hand, having spent collectively many years deeply involved with overseas study. We at Lexia are ready to facilitate your exploration of the unfamiliar, where real learning begins. Edmund S. Harvey Executive Director
